When Bergwall was just a kid, standing with curry-drenched spring rolls, watching the older guys play disco at the local youth center, he decided he wanted to be like them. A DJ. And play "Born To Be Alive" by Patrick Hernandez every day.

Disco turned into Funk, which turned into House, and now it's the same mix as soy sauce and curry were back in 1978. A year ago, when Bergwall contemplated doing one (1!) cover in his life, it had to be "Born To Be Alive." He created music far from the original, gathered courage, and sent an email to Sweden's biggest funk voice; Emrik.

Emrik delivered more than Bergwall could have ever wished for. With Emrik's voice, it was no longer just a cover; it was an interpretation. They did a So Much Better together, so to speak. Without the Frenchman. Patrick Hernandez.

Bergwall and Emrik's interpretation of "Born To Be Alive" is both colorful and dark at the same time. It swings so no one can sit still. Emrik's playfulness makes you want to dance and listen at the same time. No one in Sweden could have done it better than Emrik. Or as an acquaintance of Bergwall's said: "That's how you do a cover." Perhaps that sums up the funkiest House track ever released on Bergwall's own label, Wreckastow Records.
